LunaTek Consulting is owned and operated by Eric Burleyson. Eric has continuous experience since 1981 in designing, operating, and managing information systems. He has been a consultant to a wide variety of businesses, trade associations, non-profits, and Fortune 500 companies. Eric's Employment History

1981 - 1989, Unisys, Greenbelt, MD

Fresh out of college with his BS in Computer Science Eric went to work for Sperry (later renamed Unisys in a merger with Burroughs). For eight years he worked on scientific programming contracts with NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center on a variety of hardware and in an assortment of languages, building his technical programming repertoire and developing his project and personnel management skills.

1989 - 1995, Gnossos Software, Washington, DC

Eric left government contracting for a six-year stint in a multi-faceted lead position with a small but growing private consulting firm. The company provides creative and effective PC-based software solutions to address a wide variety of business needs. Eric's areas of responsibilities included:

  • Coordinated the company's PC purchasing and planning and administering it's local area network
  • As one of three Senior Staff, helped develop the management structure and organization of the company as it more than tripled in size from four to fourteen associates
  • Senior Programmer/Analyst on dozens of custom database applications including political action committees, accounts receivable, association membership, meetings registration, advertising sales, and contact management, for a variety of large and small corporate and non-profit organizations.
  • Mentored younger programmers in effective software development techniques as they joined the firm
1995 - Present, LunaTek Consulting, Yellow Spring, WV

In order to better control the quality and quantity of his consulting Eric opted for self-employment, doing business as LunaTek Consulting. An important characteristic of his attitude is the emphasis on the human aspects of computing as well as the technology -- High Tech, High Touch -- focusing on his clients' individual businesses and solving their unique problems. LunaTek has helped dozens of businesses with practical remedies for small problems and effective solutions for larger business challenges.

2006 - Present, Health Literacy Innovations, Bethesda, MD

In 2006, Eric, along with three partners, formed Health Literacy Innovations, a company that creates innovative software tools to enhance health literacy. Eric designed and programmed HLI's Health Literacy Advisor, the nation's first interactive health literacy software tool. As Chief Technology Officer, Eric is also responsible for HLI's technology infrastructure.
